Digital Product Designer & Art Enthusiast based in Champaign

Who Is Alex Rotberg?
I'm a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign pursuing a degree in Information Systems. I'm interested in combining the different disciplines of business, technology, art, and psychology, in order to help people live more productively.

How did this all start?
My interest in the design field began when I started working in a 3D printing lab at Gies known as the Illinois MakerLab. I realized I not only liked helping customers print their designs, but also wanted to ideate different concepts to improve the functionality of 3D printing. During the summer of 2020, I organized remote sessions with students to teach them different design applications and the importance of usability. As I continue along on my design journey, I hope to expand my knowledge about user experience design and create a positive impact on society through innovative, digital experiences.

Great, so what do you do outside of design?
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, working out, listening to Lo-Fi, and reading. I grew up competing in martial arts and have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. While I no longer participate in Tae Kwon Do, I am now part of the Illinois Boxing Club. Ask me about some of my favorite travel experiences, why I love the movie NomadLand, and what I'm looking forward to. I'm always happy to learn more about others so if you'd like to talk more, please feel free to contact me through email ( or LinkedIn.
